Ghana and Indonesia Explore Strategic Energy Sector Partnership
Ghana’s Petroleum Commission and Indonesian officials are exploring new avenues for bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas sector following discussions between Indonesia’s Honorary Consul His Excellency Paskal A. B. Rois and Petroleum Commission CEO Victoria Emeafa Hardcastle. The talks focused on investment opportunities and long-term collaboration in upstream petroleum operations.
Indonesian companies, including state-owned energy giant PT Pertamina, have expressed strong interest in investing in Ghana’s energy sector, citing the country’s stable regulatory environment and available exploration blocks. Rois highlighted Indonesia’s extensive experience in offshore and onshore petroleum operations, noting that Indonesian firms view Ghana as a key destination in their West African expansion strategy.
Hardcastle welcomed the potential partnerships, emphasizing that Ghana has several available oil blocks in deep-sea, shallow waters, and onshore locations open for international investment. The discussions also covered educational cooperation through Indonesia’s KNB Scholarship program, which could provide Ghanaian students opportunities to study engineering and technical disciplines in Indonesia. Additionally, potential partnerships with Pertamina University for specialized oil and gas industry training were explored.
