NNPC Accelerates Northern Nigeria Oil Drive with Four New Wells in Bauchi

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has successfully drilled four oil wells in the strategic Kolmani area of Bauchi State, marking significant progress in the company’s mission to expand oil and gas exploration across northern Nigeria. NNPC Director Yusuf Usman revealed the development during a government-citizen engagement session in Kaduna, confirming the company’s commitment to deepening hydrocarbon activities in the northern corridor.

The Kolmani site, spanning the border between Bauchi and Gombe states, represents Nigeria’s first major oil discovery in the North and forms the centerpiece of the Kolmani Integrated Development Project. NNPC is currently evaluating cutting-edge technology for the next phase of drilling operations, with plans to resume activities that were announced in May 2025.

Supporting President Tinubu’s energy diversification strategy, NNPC is simultaneously constructing five Compressed Natural Gas and Liquefied Natural Gas plants in Kogi State. These facilities are expected to enhance energy access across the North and contribute to the administration’s transition toward cleaner fuels.
