Libya and Japan Forge Strategic Energy Partnership as Minister Eyes Tokyo Visit
Libya’s Oil and Gas Minister Khalifa Abdul-Sadig has opened new avenues for cooperation with Japan, meeting with Japanese Ambassador Shimura to explore partnerships with leading Japanese companies in oil and gas pipeline development projects. The high-level discussions in Tripoli focused on opportunities for training and capacity building for Libyan personnel, which could significantly enhance institutional performance and support Libya’s development objectives.
The meeting also finalized arrangements for the Oil Minister’s upcoming visit to Japan, where he will participate in discussions about expanding bilateral energy cooperation. Minister Abdul-Sadig expressed particular interest in Japan’s advanced renewable energy technologies, especially hydrogen and solar energy systems, as Libya seeks to diversify its energy portfolio and achieve sustainability in this vital sector.
The partnership discussions come as Libya continues its efforts to modernize its energy infrastructure and attract international expertise to support its post-conflict reconstruction efforts.
