Iraq and Libya Forge Strategic Energy Partnership Through New Cooperation Framework

Libya’s National Oil Corporation Chairman Masoud Sulaiman met with Iraqi Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Ahmed Al-Sahhaf in Tripoli to establish enhanced cooperation mechanisms in the oil and energy sectors between the two nations.

The meeting focused on reviewing Iraq’s activities in the vital energy sector, including production capability development and contracts with international oil companies. The NOC chairman welcomed signing a memorandum of understanding regarding training, development, and capacity building initiatives.

Sulaiman emphasized strengthening cooperation between Iraq’s Petroleum Institute and its Libyan counterpart in study, research, and expertise exchange fields. He expressed enthusiasm for hosting Iraqi oil experts in Tripoli, praising the historical contributions of Iraqi specialists in Libyan oil institutions over past decades.

The chairman highlighted Iraqi experts’ significant role in developing production capabilities and training programs, expressing readiness to visit Baghdad soon to establish important agreements that would enhance bilateral cooperation in oil and energy sectors.
