Solar Giants Partner to Deploy Gigawatt-Scale Projects Across Africa
Renewable energy companies The Solar Group and Celestial Solar International have signed a partnership agreement to deploy utility-scale solar power projects across multiple African countries, with installations ranging from 50 megawatts to 550 megawatts. The agreement outlines plans for multiple solar farms designed to integrate with national and regional grids and support broader electrification goals across the continent.
Work is scheduled to begin in early 2026, with initial project deployment targeted for completion within one year of commencement. Mike Thompson, President of The Solar Group, described the partnership as a massive leap forward for grid stability in the region, noting that by combining TSG’s resources with CSI’s relationships, the companies are unlocking gigawatts of potential.
Construction and power delivery arrangements are expected to vary by host country and regulatory environment, with developers negotiating grid interconnection and power purchase frameworks in line with local energy policies. Paul De-Sosoo, Technical Director at Celestial Solar International, explained that the partnership enables the delivery of scalable, cost-efficient, and secure energy solutions that power residential and commercial sectors, stimulate industrial expansion, and support long-term economic development across Africa while advancing environmental sustainability.
