Pfizer Foundation Launches $10M Breast Cancer Initiative in Africa
The Pfizer Foundation has launched a $10 million initiative to improve breast cancer diagnosis and treatment in Kenya and Ethiopia over the next three years. The program aims to strengthen local health systems and expand access to early detection and care.
The initiative will work with local hospitals, health ministries, and community organizations to provide training, awareness campaigns, and mobile diagnostic units to reach underserved populations.
By integrating education, screening, and treatment services, the program seeks to reduce mortality rates and improve health outcomes in regions where late-stage diagnosis is common.
The project builds on previous foundation programs in Rwanda, Ghana, and Tanzania, aiming to create scalable models of cancer care for other African countries.
Healthcare experts view this initiative as critical in bridging gaps in oncology care, empowering communities, and fostering sustainable partnerships between international organizations and African health systems.
