Minister Badawi Inspects Mediterranean Gas Operations as Production Reaches 60 Million Cubic Feet Daily
Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi conducted a comprehensive field visit to North Sinai Petroleum Company’s natural gas production facilities in the Mediterranean, accompanied by sector leaders to monitor the Phase III “B” project wells generating 34 million cubic feet per day of natural gas.
The minister toured offshore production platforms and onshore gas processing facilities, reviewing operational status with company leaders and work teams. The new wells, representing $67 million in investments, have increased the company’s total production to approximately 60 million cubic feet daily, supporting domestic market demand and reducing import requirements.
Badawi was briefed on preparations for implementing the fourth phase of gas production, involving $105 million in investments. The production fields represent a joint investment between Egypt’s petroleum sector and Perenco Egypt, a subsidiary of the Egyptian-Kuwaiti Holding Company.
The expansion reflects the petroleum sector’s strategy to gradually increase local output, securing domestic natural gas demand while reducing the import bill.
