Ghana Plans Pipeline Extension to Burkina Faso for Regional Fuel Hub

Ghana’s Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Jinapor, has announced plans to extend an oil pipeline from Ghana to Burkina Faso, positioning Ghana as the main hub for Burkina Faso to off-lift petroleum products. The minister commended the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) for enhancing operational efficiency and playing a crucial role in Ghana’s energy sector transformation.

Speaking during the Government Accountability Series, Minister Jinapor outlined significant reforms and progress achieved over the past seven months, citing visible improvements at BOST and in the broader energy landscape. “I’m beginning to see positive trends at BOST, and we are already working to ensure that we extend a pipeline from Ghana to Burkina Faso,” Jinapor stated.

He applauded BOST’s Managing Director, Afetsi Awoonor, and his deputy for their exemplary leadership and dedication to operational excellence. Established in 1993, BOST serves as Ghana’s primary institution for oil storage and distribution and is considered vital to the country’s energy development agenda.

The Minister highlighted three major areas of progress: ensuring consistent and reliable energy supply for all Ghanaians, strengthening Ghana’s petroleum reserves with visible results already showing, and launching comprehensive initiatives to clean up the energy sector, tackle corruption, and promote transparency.
