Ghana’s GOIL Launches Ambitious 270-Station Renovation Program
Ghana Oil Company (GOIL) has unveiled plans for a comprehensive nationwide upgrade of its retail network, targeting 270 fuel stations for renovation by December 2025. The modernization initiative represents a significant investment in Ghana’s petroleum retail infrastructure and aims to enhance customer service standards across the country.
Edward Abambire Bawa, Group CEO and Managing Director of GOIL, announced the program during a dealer engagement forum in the Western Region, emphasizing that the initiative extends far beyond cosmetic improvements. The renovation program will affect 200 directly operated stations and 30 of the company’s 50 dealer-managed outlets, transforming them into modern facilities equipped to meet evolving consumer expectations.
The upgrades will include digital transformation elements, with GOIL launching a new platform allowing dealers to access account balances and monthly statements in real time. This technological advancement eliminates the need for dealers to rely on middle-tier staff for financial updates, streamlining operations and improving efficiency.
GOIL is simultaneously pursuing discussions with Ghana’s Presidency to secure additional petroleum supply volumes, aiming to stabilize fuel supply nationwide and potentially reduce pump prices for consumers. This supply security initiative complements the physical infrastructure improvements and positions GOIL to better serve Ghana’s growing energy needs.
The modernization program reflects GOIL’s broader ambition to establish itself as a leading Ghanaian energy company prepared for future market demands. Bawa emphasized the company’s legacy status, stating that “GOIL is not just a business – it’s a legacy. Together, we’ll build a company that is modern, trusted, and proudly Ghanaian.”
