Natural Gas Infrastructure Reaches Al Hammam City in Egypt’s Matrouh Governorate
Modern Gas has completed the first residential natural gas connection in Hammam City, Matrouh Governorate, with plans to supply 8,000 homes with natural gas service. This makes Hammam City the third city in the Governorate to receive natural gas as part of Egypt’s national strategy to reduce household dependence on liquefied natural gas cylinders.
The infrastructure development includes an intermediate pressure network extending 5,142 meters with an operating pressure of 7 bar, two horizontal directional drilling crossings, and two gas regulators with 1,000 cubic meters per hour capacity. The low-pressure network operates at 100 mm bar pressure with a length of 45,641 meters.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has introduced a program allowing citizens in newly connected areas to pay connection fees through interest-free installments of EGP 62 per month over six years, making the service more accessible to residents.
