Canadian Tag Oil is preparing to expand its exploration and production activities in Egypt’s Western Desert, with particular emphasis on unconventional resources. CEO Abby Badwi met with Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi to discuss the company’s ambitious growth plans building on its successful experience in the Badr-1 field.

Minister Badawi highlighted the Western Desert’s promising oil and gas potential, emphasizing the petroleum sector’s commitment to cooperating with international companies utilizing cutting-edge technologies. Tag Oil’s strategy centers on applying advanced horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing technologies to unlock tight oil and unconventional reservoirs, aiming to boost recovery rates.

The company entered Egypt in 2022 through an agreement with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation to develop the Badr Oil Field in the Western Desert. Tag Oil is strategically focusing on MENA region operations, with Egypt representing a key priority for the company’s expansion plans.
