South African Gas Explorer Kinetiko Launches Production Test Well Campaign
Australian upstream company Kinetiko Energy has commenced drilling of production test well 271-KA03PT10 at its promising onshore gas project in South Africa, launching a three-week campaign designed to boost output for a planned LNG pilot project. The strategic well, positioned adjacent to five existing gas-producing wells, will evaluate crucial parameters including gas flow rates, reservoir pressure, and depletion curves.
Executive Chairman Adam Sierakowski expressed confidence that revised drilling methods incorporating laboratory findings from Oilfield Technologies Australia will achieve “consistent and enhanced gas deliverability.” Initial flow results are expected by August 2025, providing critical data for the LNG pilot project scheduled for commissioning in late 2026.
The project aligns with Kinetiko Energy’s broader mission to contribute to South Africa’s energy transformation and security, as investor interest grows in the country’s helium and methane sector. The company successfully raised $2.2 million in June 2025 to fund its exploration and development activities across South Africa.
