South Africa Backs Sasol-Envision Push Into Green Hydrogen

South Africa’s government has thrown its support behind a new partnership between energy and chemicals group Sasol and global renewable energy player Envision to develop green hydrogen production in the country.

The collaboration will focus on producing green hydrogen from renewable sources such as solar and wind, a clean-burning fuel that can cut emissions across transport, industry and power generation. Backers say South Africa’s abundant renewable resources and existing infrastructure position it to become a significant player in the global green hydrogen market, with the partnership expected to build new technology, infrastructure and skills while creating jobs.
