Nigerian Clean Energy Startup Salpha Energy Secures Major Funding for Solar Expansion

Nigerian clean energy startup Salpha Energy has secured $1.3 million investment from All On, a Shell-backed impact investor, to scale solar operations and deepen clean energy access across underserved communities. The funding will support expansion of the company’s local solar assembly facility, enhance product offerings, and increase access to affordable, reliable electricity in off-grid communities.

According to CEO Sandra Chukwudozie, the company’s turnkey solar power systems ranging from 150Wp to 100kWp with integrated battery storage and smart inverters have already reached over two million people in Nigeria. The new funding aims to serve additional communities lacking reliable electricity access.

All On CEO Caroline Eboumbou noted the investment represents a strategic push to empower local enterprises tackling Nigeria’s energy access challenge, providing local currency financing to address industry currency mismatch risks. The investment aligns with All On’s mission to bridge Nigeria’s access-to-energy gap by backing indigenous innovative companies.

Salpha Energy stands as the only female-founded company in sub-Saharan Africa with a solar home system assembly plant. Chukwudozie founded the company to tackle energy poverty in low-income Nigerian communities through solutions designed specifically for the African context, leveraging her background with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization.
