ExxonMobil and Partners Secure Strategic Block 17 Extension in Angola’s Offshore Waters

Energy giant ExxonMobil has successfully negotiated a production sharing contract extension for Block 17 offshore Angola, solidifying the consortium’s commitment to maximizing value from mature oilfields in the region. The renewed agreement includes partners TotalEnergies, Equinor, Azule Energy (a bp-Eni joint venture), and Angola’s state-owned Sonangol.

The extension enables continued utilization of existing infrastructure and accumulated technical expertise across Block 17’s four major production hubs: Girassol, Dalia, Pazflor, and CLOV. This strategic approach allows the partnership to optimize returns from established fields while leveraging decades of operational experience in Angola’s challenging offshore environment.

ExxonMobil Angola President Katrina Fisher highlighted Block 17’s significant contribution to Angola’s oil and gas industry development over the years. The renewed contract represents a vote of confidence in Angola’s petroleum sector and demonstrates the partners’ long-term commitment to the country’s energy future.
