Egypt’s Energy Council Approves Major Industrial Project Expansion
The Supreme Council of Energy, chaired by Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat, has approved energy supply for 14 new industrial projects and existing facility expansions. The approved projects include new solar glass factories, an industrial complex for chemically derived sodium sulfate production, seawater extraction facilities for potassium chloride and bromine, ammonia plant relocation, and new production lines for existing factories.
Minister Esmat emphasized that these decisions align with Egypt’s national energy strategy, which balances energy production and consumption with economic and social development needs. Egypt aims to increase renewable energy’s share in the national mix to 42% by 2030 and 65% by 2040, while maximizing economic returns from electricity and natural gas resources.
The meeting included several ministers from Industry and Transport, Planning, Economic Development, International Cooperation, and Petroleum and Mineral Resources.
