Egypt Expands LNG Import Capacity to Record 2.25 Billion Cubic Feet Daily

Egypt has successfully established robust LNG import infrastructure with unprecedented capacity, according to Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi. During a meeting with Arthur Regan, CEO of US-based Energos Infrastructure Management LLC, Badawi confirmed that Egypt’s three operating regasification units at SUMED and Sonker ports in Ain Sokhna have achieved a combined capacity of 2.25 billion cubic feet per day.

The infrastructure includes Energos Eskimo and Energos Power units currently operational, while Energos Force has arrived and started commercial trials at Jordan’s Aqaba Port, serving both countries through the Arab Gas Pipeline with 750 million cubic feet per day capacity. Additionally, Petroleum Marine Services has completed development works at Damietta port to receive the Energos Winter unit with 450 million cubic feet per day capacity.

Regan praised Egypt’s achievement, noting that “the achievements of the past four months have exceeded global expectations” and highlighting Egypt’s ability to build LNG import infrastructure in record time as “an exceptional partnership model.”
