Libya’s oil sector is attracting renewed international interest as Acting Minister of Oil and Gas Khalifa Abdul Sadiq held high-level discussions with US energy giant Chevron regarding potential cooperation and investment opportunities in the country’s oil and gas sector.
The meeting took place on Thursday and focused on Chevron’s possible entry into the Libyan market, aligning with ongoing improvements in the investment climate and the return of several major international companies to Libya operations.
Discussions centered on potential cooperation steps to support the Ministry of Oil and Gas and the National Oil Corporation’s objectives to increase production rates and develop sector infrastructure. The talks reflect the ministry’s broader strategy to strengthen partnerships with major global companies while developing the sector and creating sustainable investment opportunities.
The meeting reinforces Libya’s position as a reliable energy supplier in global markets and demonstrates growing confidence in the country’s energy sector stability.
Chevron’s delegation included Joe Cook, Director of Exploration and Production; Mamadou Beye, Regional Vice President for Corporate Affairs; and Jan Curtis, Head of Regional Affairs for the Mediterranean and North Africa.
