Case adds to rising number of Nigerians killed in violent attacks in the UK.

The United Kingdom Metropolitan Police have charged 37-year-old Andre Wright-Walters with the murder of 67-year-old Nigerian, James Gbadamosi, who died following an assault in South London.

Police said Gbadamosi was attacked on Balham High Road at about 3:40 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, and suffered life-threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital but later died on Friday, September 5.

Wright-Walters, of Avery Hill, Greenwich, was first arrested on August 27 and charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a Class A drug. He appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on August 28 and was released on bail.

Following Gbadamosi’s death, Wright-Walters was re-arrested on September 6 on suspicion of murder and formally charged on September 7. He appeared before Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court again on Monday, September 8.

A 30-year-old woman was also arrested on August 27 on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm. She was re-arrested on September 6 for conspiracy to commit murder but has since been released on bail pending further investigation.

Police have appealed to anyone with information about the incident to contact them on 101 or via X (@MetCC), quoting reference CAD 4647/24Aug.

The killing of Gbadamosi adds to recent cases of Nigerians who have lost their lives in violent incidents in the UK, including the fatal stabbing of 26-year-old Ayowale Aladejana in southeast London last month.
