Tanzania Accelerates Ntorya Gas Field Development with Pipeline Construction Timeline
Aminex has received encouraging updates on the critical pipeline infrastructure connecting the Ntorya gas field to the Madimba gas processing plant, with construction activities set to commence in January 2026.
During recent meetings between the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation, ARA Petroleum Tanzania, and Aminex, TPDC confirmed that pipeline contractors have initiated procurement processes for all necessary pipe and equipment. Construction equipment mobilization is scheduled for September 2025.
The pipeline construction timeline shows groundwork and pipe-laying operations beginning in January 2026, with project completion targeted for July 2026. This infrastructure represents a crucial component in bringing Tanzania’s gas resources to market.
The Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority has approved the tender strategy for contracting a drilling rig to drill the Chikumbi-1 well and perform workover operations on the Ntorya-1 well. ARA Petroleum Tanzania will request expressions of interest from relevant service contractors.
Executive Chairman Charles Santos emphasized the project’s significance, stating that developments “demonstrate again the Government of Tanzania’s strong commitment to this project which will deliver large volumes of gas supplies to help alleviate energy poverty, boost industrial development and fuel Tanzania’s economic growth.” The meetings also addressed condensate processing capabilities, which are expected to provide additional value to the project operations.
