Sonadrill Wins Two Major Drilling Contracts in Angola

Sonadrill, the joint venture between offshore drilling contractor Seadrill and Angola’s national oil company Sonangol, has secured two significant drilling contracts offshore Angola. The contracts will be executed by Sonadrill’s West Gemini and Sonangol Libongos vessels.

The West Gemini vessel was contracted by Sonangol E&P, the company’s upstream division, for an estimated 284-day program with drilling expected to commence in late 2025 or early 2026. The Sonangol Libongos vessel was contracted by international energy company Azule Energy for a work program covering 525 days, with priced options available beyond the initial term. Drilling activities are expected to start in the third quarter of 2025.
