Singapore’s POSH Takes Command of Major FLNG Transport Operation from China to Congo
Singapore-based offshore marine solutions company PACC Offshore Services Holdings (POSH) has secured a significant contract to transport a floating liquefied natural gas unit from China to the Republic of Congo, where it will support Italy’s Eni energy operations.
Through a partnership with Wison New Energies, POSH will tow the FLNG Nguya from Lvsi, Qidong, China, to Congo for deployment in Phase 2 of Eni’s Congo LNG project. The unit will join the already operational FLNG Tango at the Marine XII development, exploiting gas resources at the Nenè and Litchendjili fields.
The Singapore-based firm plans to deploy three ocean-going towing tugs for the China-to-Congo journey, plus an additional tug in Congo for station-keeping during hook-up operations with the SSY mooring system. The 376-meter-long and 60-meter-wide FLNG Nguya boasts a nominal capacity of 2.4 million tonnes of LNG annually, equivalent to 3.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
POSH has appointed Longitude to handle engineering works for the marine operations, covering station-keeping, hook-up of the submerged swivel yoke mooring system, tether chain assembly, and flexible riser connections. The FLNG will be positioned approximately 50 kilometers offshore from Pointe-Noire in 33 meters of water depth.
Eric Ng, Director of Offshore Projects at POSH, described the project as “a significant milestone” and the company’s first collaboration with Wison New Energies. Congo LNG is expected to reach full production capacity from 2025, with overall LNG production capacity of 3 million tons per year.
