Shell Ramps Up Bonga North Project Toward 110,000 BPD Production Target
Shell is intensifying efforts to maximize production capacity at its Bonga North project, which holds estimated recoverable resources exceeding 300 million barrels of oil equivalent. The ongoing development work aims to achieve peak production of 110,000 barrels per day as the $5 billion project advances through execution phase.
The Society of Petroleum Engineers Nigeria Council recently recognized Shell for the Bonga North Final Investment Decision announced late last year. Executive Vice President and Country Chair Nigeria Marno de Jong highlighted Shell’s continued contributions to Nigeria’s development through taxes, royalties, local business support, and social investments spanning health and education sectors.
Shell showcased its Nigerian operations at the annual international SPE conference in Lagos, featuring more than 60 exhibitors. The company’s exhibition stand highlighted flagship business Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Ltd (SNEPCo), Shell Nigeria Gas (SNG), impact investment company All On, and Daystar Power, which provides integrated solar solutions across West Africa.
Minister of State for Gas Ekperikpe Ekpo led dignitaries through the exhibition, where Senior Production Geologist Abidemi Belgore emphasized Shell’s six-decade history of powering progress in Nigeria. The company continues pioneering oil and gas production both onshore and in deepwater environments while implementing comprehensive social investment programs.
Shell’s commitment extends to leveraging technology and human resources for a resilient and sustainable energy future, demonstrating support for end-to-end energy sustainability throughout its Nigerian operations.
