Shell and Egypt Advance West Delta Gas Development Plans

Egypt’s petroleum ministry conducted high-level discussions with Shell Global executives to review the latest developments in the company’s natural gas investments, particularly in the West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) concession area. Minister Karim Badawi met with Shell’s Integrated Gas Business Executive Vice President Cederic Cremers and other senior officials to assess the progress of ongoing production phases.

The meeting followed up on results from Phases 10 and 11 of the gas production project, with initial production from Phase 11 now underway. Discussions covered expansion plans including new production phases and exploration of additional natural gas potential in the region, reinforcing Egypt’s position as a regional energy hub.

Both parties explored cooperation opportunities for developing Cyprus’s Aphrodite gas field, where Shell and partners are investing with plans to transport output to Egypt through the country’s advanced infrastructure. The successful Idku liquefied natural gas plant was highlighted as a prime example of effective partnership between Egypt’s petroleum sector and Shell, supporting Egypt’s regional energy hub ambitions.
