Seadrill Joint Venture Secures Major Angola Drilling Contracts

Sonadrill Holding, the 50:50 joint venture between Seadrill and Sonangol affiliate, has secured two significant contracts for drillship operations offshore Angola. The West Gemini secured a 284-day contract with Sonangol Exploração & Produção, expected to begin in late 2025 or early 2026.

The Sonangol Libongos received a 525-day firm term award from Azule Energy Angola, with priced options beyond the initial term. This program commences in Q3 2025, continuing directly from the current contract.

Sonadrill currently operates three drillships: the Seadrill-owned West Gemini and two Sonangol-owned units, Sonangol Libongos and Sonangol Quenguela. Seadrill provides management, operational and technical support to the joint venture for a management fee.
