President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi held a strategic meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi to address the state’s efforts to secure citizens’ needs for petroleum products and provide natural gas to various sectors, especially electricity generation.
Minister Badawi reviewed the main achievements from July 2024 to June 2025, including increased local oil and gas production and success in overcoming the natural decline in natural gas production. The meeting addressed significant expansion in research and exploration activities and efforts to reduce outstanding payments to foreign partners while incentivizing accelerated production and exploration.
The discussions also covered cooperation with Cyprus to diversify gas supplies and activate Egypt’s strategy as a regional gas trading hub. President Al-Sisi emphasized the importance of maintaining an attractive investment environment for foreign and national capital, describing it as crucial to support local oil and gas production, meet development needs, reduce import bills, and ease citizen burdens.
