Perenco Advances $2 Billion Floating LNG Project as Gabon Prepares for Energy Transformation
Independent oil and gas company Perenco has commissioned a cutting-edge floating LNG vessel currently under construction in Dubai, marking Gabon’s first large-scale gas development at the Cap Lopez LNG terminal scheduled for 2026 operations.
The ambitious $2 billion project promises annual production of 700,000 tons of LNG and 25,000 tons of LPG, supported by storage infrastructure capable of holding 137,000 cubic meters. The FLNG development operates under Perenco’s affiliate Dixstone through a contract with engineering and construction company Technomak.
The Cap Lopez project represents a significant milestone in Perenco’s natural gas strategy while serving as a catalyst for energy diversification and broader economic growth in Gabon. The development will enhance energy security and support industrialization efforts across the region.
Simultaneously, Perenco has initiated construction of the Kombi 2 platform on the Kombi-Likalala-Libondo II permit in the Republic of Congo, representing an investment exceeding $200 million with new drilling phases, infrastructure upgrades, and optimization of existing wells.
