Oceaneering Lands Major $90 Million Contract with ExxonMobil for Angola Operations
U.S. subsea engineering firm Oceaneering International has secured a substantial three-year contract worth $80-90 million with an ExxonMobil affiliate to provide remotely operated vehicle (ROV) services and integrated solutions at an offshore block in Angola.
The contract, awarded to Oceaneering Angola and Oceaneering Marine Technologies by Esso Exploration Angola (Block 15) Limited, began on July 1 and covers services supporting offshore operations in Angola Block 15.
The comprehensive scope includes provision of multiple work-class ROVs, ROV tooling, intervention workover control systems (IWOCS), satellite communication systems, and subsea inspection, hydrate remediation, and engineering services. These will be deployed from Esso-supplied facilities, intervention vessels, and drilling rigs.
Martin McDonald, Subsea Robotics Senior Vice President at Oceaneering, emphasized that securing this contract renewal through a competitive process reinforces the company’s position as a trusted partner in Angola’s offshore energy sector. The award reflects Oceaneering’s in-country capabilities for subsea robotics and intervention services while supporting continued growth in the strategically important region.
The contract comes as ExxonMobil’s Angolan subsidiary and consortium partners recently secured an extension of their production sharing contract for Block 15 offshore Angola, extending the production period until 2037.
