NNPCL Expands Northern Nigeria Energy Infrastructure with New Wells and Gas Plants

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has successfully completed drilling of four oil wells in Kolmani, Bauchi State, marking a significant milestone in expanding oil and gas exploration activities across northern Nigeria.

Director Yusuf Usman announced the achievement during an interactive session in Kaduna, emphasizing NNPCL’s commitment to deepening energy development throughout the region. The company is currently evaluating optimal technology solutions for the next phase of drilling operations at the Kolmani site.

Complementing the oil exploration efforts, five Compressed Natural Gas and Liquefied Natural Gas plants are under construction in Kogi State as part of President Bola Tinubu’s CNG Initiative. The projects aim to enhance gas availability and accessibility across the northern corridor.

Usman highlighted the growing impact of recent energy sector achievements on economic development throughout northern Nigeria and the broader country. The initiatives represent part of a coordinated effort to expand domestic energy production capacity and improve regional energy security.

The Kolmani development represents a strategic expansion of Nigeria’s oil exploration activities beyond traditional southern producing regions, potentially opening new resource areas while diversifying the country’s production base.
