NNPCL Expands LNG Footprint with Kogi State Partnership
NNPC Gas Marketing Limited has entered a joint venture agreement with Zuid Energies Limited for development of a 6 million standard cubic feet per day Compressed Natural Gas plant and 40 million standard cubic feet per day LNG facility in Ajaokuta, Kogi State.
The partnership, announced during a Mobility-CNG Stakeholders Workshop in Abuja, represents NGML’s commitment to leveraging private sector partnerships for innovative Virtual Pipeline Solutions enabling efficient gas supply to off-grid and underserved areas.
The development adds to five mini-LNG plants already under construction in Ajaokuta with combined capacity of 97 million standard cubic feet per day, including NNPC Prime LNG, NGML/Gasnexus LNG, BUA LNG, Highland LNG, and LNG Arete. These facilities will tap into rich natural gas deposits in Kogi State and the Ajaokuta-Obajana pipeline.
The plants are expected to boost LNG production and availability for power generation, cooking gas, and compressed natural gas for vehicles, supporting the federal government’s 10-for-10 Campaign to convert 10,000 commercial vehicles to CNG within 10 weeks.
