The sprint queen clocked 12.29s to finish second behind Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji, adding another medal to her glittering career.

Nigeria’s sprint queen, Tobi Amusan, delivered yet another world-class performance at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, storming to silver in the women’s 100m hurdles final with a time of 12.29 seconds.

The 28-year-old, who remains the world record holder in the event, powered through the race with her trademark explosive start and clean hurdling but was narrowly edged out at the finish line by Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji, who struck gold in 12.24 seconds, setting a new national record.

Amusan’s silver adds to her growing legacy as one of Africa’s most decorated athletes on the global stage. The bronze medal went to Grace Stark of the United States in 12.34s, while Olympic champion Masai Russell finished just outside the podium.

Despite missing gold, Amusan’s consistency at the top level reaffirms her place as a dominant force in women’s sprint hurdles and a source of pride for Nigeria.
