Nigeria Breaks OPEC Production Limits, Output Surges to 1.5 Million Barrels Daily
Nigeria has exceeded its OPEC crude oil production quota by four percent in June 2025, reaching 1.505 million barrels per day against the allowed 1.5 million barrels daily. The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission revealed the country achieved 104% of its OPEC allocation, marking a significant recovery in production levels.
The surge represents a dramatic improvement from earlier months, with production climbing from 1.400 million barrels per day in March to the current record. Industry sources attribute the increase to relative peace in the Niger Delta region and intensified efforts to combat oil theft, leading to the reopening of previously shut-in wells.
Daily average production in June reached 1.697 million barrels per day, comprising crude oil production of 1.505 million barrels and condensate production of 191,572 barrels. The lowest and peak production levels recorded were 1.61 million and 1.8 million barrels per day respectively.
