Namibia Strengthens Energy Partnership with Algeria
Namibian Vice President Lucia Witbooi secured Algeria’s support for oil, gas, and renewable energy development during high-level talks in Algiers. Discussions with Energy Minister Mohamed Arkab focused on legal advisory support, technical training, and expert exchanges to strengthen Namibia’s emerging petroleum industry framework.
Algeria pledged to share expertise in oil and gas legislation, capacity building, and renewable energy development as Namibia prepares for large-scale oil production. Both countries agreed on high-level visits to Algeria’s strategic energy facilities, providing Namibian officials firsthand insights into resource management strategies.
The partnership aims to help Namibia avoid common sector pitfalls through Algeria’s experience in managing state-owned enterprises, negotiating with international companies, and developing downstream facilities.
