Libya’s NOC Reviews Promising Zawiya Refinery Development Study

The National Oil Corporation’s Board of Directors reviewed encouraging results from an economic feasibility study for developing the Zawiya refinery, prepared by American company Honeywell UOP. The study confirmed significant potential for refinery development and operational system modernization, enabling coverage of a substantial portion of local gasoline market needs.

The proposed modernization would significantly reduce import dependence and financial costs allocated to subsidizing imported fuel, enhancing economic stability in this vital sector. The meeting emphasized the importance of continuing periodic maintenance of refineries and accessories to ensure uninterrupted production and prevent operational disruptions.
