Libya Qualifies 37 Companies for Major Oil Sector Bidding Round

Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced the qualification of 37 companies for participation in this year’s oil sector bidding rounds, including 29 operators and eight investors from a total of 44 applicants.

The qualified operators represent a who’s who of global energy, including BP Exploration Libya Limited, Chevron Business Development EMEA Ltd., ExxonMobil’s Esso Exploration International Limited, Eni North Africa B.V., Shell International B.V., and TotalEnergies E&P.

Other notable operators include China National Oil and Gas Exploration and Development Company (CNODC), DNO ASA, Harbour Energy plc, LUKOIL, QatarEnergy International E&P, OMV Exploration & Production GmbH, and Repsol Exploration.

The investor category includes Cheiron Petroleum Corporation, Gran Tierra Energy, Indian Oil Company Limited, and several other international entities. NOC reported that the activation of the virtual data room for the bidding process is nearly complete, marking significant progress in Libya’s efforts to attract international investment to its oil sector.
