Khalda Petroleum Boosts Egypt’s Gas Production with New Desert Well

Khalda Petroleum Company, a joint venture between Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation and Apache Corporation, has begun producing approximately 50 million cubic feet per day from the new South NUT-1 well in Egypt’s Western Desert. The achievement supports the ministry’s strategy to boost exploration and increase domestic production while reducing import reliance.

Khalda’s Western Desert fields have contributed additional output exceeding 200 million cubic feet per day since recent investment agreements, equivalent to two monthly LNG import shipments. The increased local production directly supports ministry efforts to reduce gas import costs through enhanced domestic supply.
