Eni Advances Sustainability Initiatives in Côte d’Ivoire
Italian energy company Eni has released its second sustainability report for Côte d’Ivoire, highlighting progress on the Baleine project, Africa’s first net-zero emissions upstream development. The project utilizes advanced technologies and local initiatives to offset emissions while supporting community development.
The company successfully launched a 30-year conservation project protecting 14 forests in the Lagunes and Comoé regions, expected to benefit over 300,000 people. The initiative began with planting 100 hectares in 2025, laying groundwork for approximately 12 million native trees.
Eni’s Clean Cooking program, launched in 2022, has reached 750,000 people through improved cookstove distribution and certified carbon credit issuance. The company also advanced its agri-feedstock project, valorizing forest and agro-industrial residues including rubber tree seed oil and cashew nut shell liquid, with first shipments beginning in June 2025.
