Egypt’s petroleum sector is gaining momentum through enhanced cooperation with global technology leader SLB, focusing on expanded exploration, development projects, and increased production capacity.

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi met with SLB’s Regional President Jesus Lamas to discuss the sector’s six core strategic pillars. The meeting highlighted SLB’s pivotal role in initiatives including the Egypt Upstream Gateway (EUG) and regional seismic surveys in the Red Sea and Gulf of Suez.

The EUG serves as a modern digital platform designed to attract investments by showcasing promising opportunities across Egypt’s geological basins. Recent investment opportunities from the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), and Ganoub El Wadi Petroleum Holding Company are being actively promoted through the platform.

Both parties explored cooperation on several key projects, including the Red Sea seismic survey project and potential new seismic surveys in the Gulf of Suez using Ocean Bottom Nodes (OBN) technology. They also discussed mature field redevelopment projects and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) initiatives.

SLB brings 80 years of experience in Egypt as a global technology company driving energy innovation. The expanded partnership aims to coordinate technical workshops supporting ongoing petroleum activities while promoting bid rounds to global investors.
