Drydocks World Selected for Gabon LNG Vessel Conversion Project
UAE-headquartered marine and offshore services provider Drydocks World Dubai will convert an LNG carrier into a floating storage unit for Gabon’s Cap Lopez floating LNG project. The work, awarded by Dixstone Lower Gulf FZCO, will refurbish the vessel to provide critical gas storage for offshore LNG operations, reduce routine flaring and increase production output by approximately 105 million standard cubic feet per day when paired with an FLNG facility.
The conversion includes 700 tons of new steel, installation of around 3 kilometers of piping, a 1,400-ton boil-off gas module, a 350-ton electrical house, plus full vessel drydocking, tank coating and life-extension works. Sail-away for the converted FSU is scheduled for July 2027. Drydocks World says the contract underscores its ability to deliver high-spec LNG conversions and support emerging LNG infrastructure projects worldwide.
