Tullow completes critical seismic survey as Noble Venturer prepares for high-stakes drilling campaign
The clock is ticking on a major new drilling campaign off the west coast of Africa as Tullow Ghana wraps up a sophisticated 4D seismic survey over its lucrative Jubilee and TEN oil fields. The strategic survey, designed to pinpoint high-value drilling targets, clears the way for the arrival of Noble Corporation’s formidable drillship, Noble Venturer, scheduled to begin operations later this month.
In a carefully orchestrated $171 million drilling program, the Noble Venturer will tackle six firm wells over approximately 360 days, starting with two critical Jubilee wells in 2025. The campaign will intensify in 2026 with four additional wells, all informed by cutting-edge seismic data currently being analyzed using advanced algorithms.
“This new seismic data, combined with the latest processing techniques, will support the high grading of the future infill drilling program,” revealed Andrew G. Inglis, Kosmos Energy’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
The mighty Noble Venturer, built in 2014 at Samsung Heavy Industries in Korea, represents the pinnacle of drilling technology, capable of operating in water depths of 12,000 feet and drilling to an astonishing 40,000 feet. The vessel accommodates a crew of 230 specialists and technicians.
This high-stakes drilling campaign comes as Tullow Oil has recently partnered with Opsealog to digitalize its marine operations in Ghana, implementing advanced vessel tracking and optimization systems to reduce fuel consumption and slash greenhouse gas emissions.
