Congo Sets Ambitious Target to Nearly Double Oil Production by 2030
The Republic of Congo has announced bold plans to boost national oil production to 500,000 barrels per day by 2030, representing a significant jump from current output levels. Bruno Jean-Richard Itoua, Minister of Hydrocarbons, revealed that cumulative oil production from January to July reached 56,945,552 barrels, averaging 268,000 barrels per day over 212 days—a 5.2% increase compared to the same period last year.
The ambitious target comes as major operators ramp up activities across the country. TotalEnergies has made substantial contributions by adding four new oil fields and delivering approximately 900,000 barrels during the reporting period. Meanwhile, Perenco, which produced around 60,000 barrels, has set its own aggressive goal of reaching 200,000 barrels per day by 2030.
The production increase is strategically aimed at meeting growing domestic demand while positioning Congo as a more significant player in the regional oil market.
