Burullus Gas Company Adds 60 Million Cubic Feet Daily Production
Burullus Gas Company has successfully brought two new wells online in the deepwater West Delta area of the Mediterranean, adding a combined 60 million cubic feet per day of natural gas production. The development is expected to help reduce the gap between production and consumption in Egypt’s domestic market.
The first well, Sapphire South Central DP, is the third to come onstream under Phase 11 of the West Delta Deep Marine project, with initial output of about 50 million cubic feet per day along with 800 barrels of condensate. The second well, Scarab D4, was brought back online after a long shutdown, adding around 10 million cubic feet per day.
Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi noted that the implementation of phases 10 and 11 of the West Delta Deep Marine project represents tangible results of recent ministry incentives designed to encourage investment partners and restore confidence. Burullus Gas Company has completed development of both phases, including six wells with total investments of $575 million, raising total production to 305 million cubic feet per day and 3,630 barrels of condensates daily.
