Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov engaged in high-level diplomatic discussions with key regional energy leaders, focusing on market stability and cooperation frameworks. The meetings included separate sessions with OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al Ghais, GECF Secretary General Mohamed Hamel, and Egyptian Minister of Petroleum Karim Badawi.

During discussions with the OPEC Secretary General, both parties examined current oil market regulation and industry development trends, with particular emphasis on the OPEC+ framework’s effectiveness. The collaboration between OPEC and non-OPEC countries in ensuring market stability received special attention, with Azerbaijan’s contribution earning specific recognition.

The GECF Secretary General meeting centered on Azerbaijan’s organizational engagement and global gas sector development. Mohamed Hamel outlined planned initiatives to highlight natural gas’s environmental benefits and promote it as a sustainable energy source, while facilitating dialogue and experience-sharing opportunities.

Talks with Egyptian Minister Karim Badawi focused on strengthening bilateral energy cooperation, building on recent presidential visits that have enhanced ties across multiple sectors. The discussions welcomed the signing of cooperation protocols covering oil and oil products, LNG trade, production and exploration projects, refining, decarbonization, and human capital development.

Both Azerbaijan and Egypt expressed strong interest in expanding collaboration on joint projects spanning production, petrochemicals, and refining sectors, signaling deeper regional energy integration.
