Ammat Global Resources Targets 70% Output Boost in Republic of Congo

Ammat Global Resources has unveiled an ambitious five-year expansion strategy aimed at increasing oil and gas production by 70% across its Republic of Congo operations. The comprehensive plan focuses on the company’s offshore Loango and Zatchi fields, supporting the nation’s broader objective of reaching 500,000 barrels per day in total oil and gas production.

The expansion strategy encompasses significant infrastructure improvements, including revamping production platforms at the Zatchi field, reactivating dormant wells, and replacing outdated pumps to enhance productivity at Loango field. The company demonstrated strong momentum in 2024 by modernizing three production platforms at Loango and achieving a remarkable 75% production increase across both fields, with combined output rising from 4,000 to 7,000 barrels per day.

Central to Ammat’s Congolese strategy is infrastructure modernization and enhanced gas utilization, particularly focusing on maximizing production value through self-consumption by turbogenerators from the Loango field. This approach aligns with the Republic of Congo’s national goal to double power generation capacity to 1,500 MW by 2030 through optimal exploitation of the country’s substantial 10 trillion cubic feet of natural gas reserves.

The expansion positions Ammat Global Resources at the forefront of the Republic of Congo’s emerging Gas Master Plan, an integrated framework centered on infrastructure development, gas valorization, and sustainable economic growth.
