Afentra Delivers Strong Performance with 21,350 BOPD Production in First Half 2025
Africa-focused upstream company Afentra plc has reported solid operational achievements in the first half of 2025, reaching gross average production of 21,350 barrels of oil per day while advancing its multi-year redevelopment strategy.
The company successfully ramped up water injection operations to 35,000 barrels per day, targeting 85,000 barrels of water per day by year-end. Maximum injection rates exceeded 100,000 barrels of water per day during the period, demonstrating strong infrastructure capabilities.
Afentra enhanced production performance through 10 light well interventions and comprehensive infrastructure upgrades across power systems, cranes, subsea lines, and risers. The company is preparing for rig mobilization and drilling activities planned for 2026.
The first half also saw strategic acquisitions, with Afentra securing an additional 5% net interest in Block 3/05 and 6.67% net interest in Block 3/05A. A major highlight was the onshore Kwanza basin growth plan, where the company initialed a risk service contract for KON4 with operatorship and 35% working interest.
The Kwanza licenses offer low-cost exploration potential, with one block hosting the Quenguela Norte field, known as the largest onshore discovery in the region. Afentra recorded overall revenue of $52.0 million and completed two crude oil liftings totaling 0.7 million barrels.
“We continue to prioritize sound financial and risk management to ensure appropriate visibility on cash flow,” said Paul McDade, CEO of Afentra plc. “Combined with solid operational performance, material reserve replacement and strong asset cash generation, these milestones reinforce the strength of our portfolio.”
