Turkish Firm Delivers Critical High-Pressure System for Major Nigerian Oil Project
In a significant milestone for Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, Turkish pressure equipment manufacturer ERGIL has successfully delivered one of the highest-pressure pigging systems in its portfolio to a major development project operated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in partnership with TotalEnergies. The state-of-the-art pig launcher and receiver package, designed for intelligent pigging operations under extreme conditions, represents a breakthrough in safety-critical equipment for the Nigerian energy industry. Engineered for a design pressure of 240 bar(g) and manufactured to rigorous ASME Section VIII, Division 2 standards, the system incorporates a custom quick opening closure with mechanical interlocking—a critical safety feature that prevents opening while the system remains pressurized.
Despite facing an aggressive timeline, ERGIL completed the engineering, manufacturing, and documentation within the compressed schedule, delivering equipment capable of handling hydrocarbon service with gas, liquid, water, CO2, and trace H2S. The system is designed to ensure long-term reliability under Nigeria’s demanding offshore operating conditions.
