Production Delays Hit Sèmè Oilfield Development Offshore Benin

Development drilling at the Sèmè oilfield offshore Benin has run into technical difficulties, preventing start-up by year end as planned. Rex International Holding, which has a 76% interest in the project operator Akrake Petroleum Benin, issued the update on December 24, stating that drilling operations were still in progress in an attempt to resolve the issues. The setback represents a delay in what was expected to be a significant milestone for offshore oil production in Benin. The operator is working to address the technical challenges encountered during drilling operations.
