Höegh Gandria Arrives in Singapore for FSRU Conversion Bound for Egypt
Norwegian LNG carrier and FSRU operator Höegh Evi has confirmed the arrival of the Höegh Gandria vessel at Seatrium’s shipyard in Singapore, where conversion work has commenced to transform the LNG carrier into a floating storage and regasification unit destined for deployment in Egypt. The project builds on Höegh Evi’s proven track record of fast FSRU project execution.
The conversion process includes engineering, installation of regasification systems, overall systems integration, commissioning, and a cosmetic refresh. Upon completion in the fourth quarter of 2026, the FSRU will be ready to deliver up to 1,000 million standard cubic feet per day in regasification capacity. The unit is scheduled to replace Egypt’s first FSRU, Höegh Galleon, which was deployed in July 2024.
The Höegh Gandria will work at Egypt’s Sumed Port for a decade starting in the fourth quarter of 2026, providing critical regasification capacity to support the country’s energy needs. Beyond its participation in the Egyptian energy market, Höegh Evi is also working to bolster energy security in the Netherlands. In partnership with VTTI, the Norwegian company officially launched the permitting process for the Netherlands’ third LNG terminal last year.
