Dangote Refinery Slashes Petrol Prices to ₦841, Launches Direct Supply to 11 States

Lagos, Nigeria – In a major development that could reshape Nigeria’s fuel market, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced dramatic price cuts and launched direct fuel distribution across 11 states, effective Monday, September 15, 2025.

The refinery has slashed pump prices to ₦841 per litre in Lagos and the South West region, and ₦851 per litre in Abuja, Edo, Kwara, Rivers, and Delta States. The gantry price has been set at an even lower ₦820 per litre, marking a significant reduction in fuel costs for consumers.

As part of the groundbreaking initiative, registered filling stations in 12 states will receive free delivery of petrol, with nationwide expansion planned in phases. The scheme, originally scheduled for August, was delayed due to logistics bottlenecks in China but is now fully operational.

Since its commissioning, the Dangote Refinery has been instrumental in reducing Nigeria’s dependence on imported petroleum products. In July 2025, it received 4,000 CNG-powered trucks under a ₦720 billion investment plan to distribute up to 65 million litres of refined fuel daily. This massive investment is projected to save Nigeria ₦1.7 trillion annually in gasoline distribution costs while reviving idle petrol stations and improving downstream operations.

Industry experts believe Dangote’s move could ease fuel price pressures, strengthen supply reliability, and accelerate Nigeria’s path toward energy independence.
