Egypt Strengthens Global Energy Partnerships Through Strategic Meetings

Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, has held extensive discussions with international oil and gas executives to explore investment opportunities and strengthen collaborative partnerships.

Badawi met with Freeman Shaheen, President of Chevron Global Gas, to enhance cooperation in Mediterranean natural gas exploration and production while focusing on carbon emissions reduction. Discussions covered ongoing collaborative projects in upstream activities, particularly in the Nargis offshore and North El-Dabaa areas, plus the newly added Lotus sector.

The minister emphasized accelerating development of the Nargis field and drilling the appraisal well Nargis-2, while expediting exploration well drilling in the offshore North Al-Dabaa area in the Western Mediterranean. Chevron, one of the world’s largest oil producers, operates across the entire petroleum industry spectrum from exploration to refining and petrochemicals.

Additional meetings included SLB leadership, focusing on strengthening collaboration through modern upstream technologies including Offshore Ocean Bottom Node Seismic Survey technology, integrated digital data analysis, and Artificial Intelligence for geological data interpretation. With an 80-year presence in Egypt, SLB has been leveraging deep reservoir expertise to address challenges in Egypt’s energy sector.

Badawi also discussed cooperation with Greek energy company Energean, which operates significant natural gas concessions in Egypt, and Norwegian company Höegh Evi Ltd, a global leader in floating LNG infrastructure. These partnerships focus on maximizing yields from existing concessions, exploring new opportunities, and ensuring energy supply security.
